Vintage Solid Sterling Silver Collector Plate titled "THE ROAD, WINTER" featuring a classic winter scene portraying a horse-drawn sleigh on a snowy road, taken from the hand-colored lithograph by Currier & Ives, a renowned American printmaking firm. The plate was produced by the Danbury Mint of Westport, Connecticut and handcrafted by Reed & Barton. It was the first Sterling Silver collector plate ever to be issued by the Danbury Mint. ( Christmas 1972). The plate was part of a series featuring individually etched details with 24 Karate gold and burnished copper inlays. 8" diameter and weighs .55 pounds. Plate number 2061 out of 7500. Reverse reads, HANDCRAFTED BY REED & BARTON IN ITS EXCLUSIVE DAMASCENE PROCESS. 24 KARATE GOLD AND COPPER ON SOLID STERLING SILVER. It is slightly tarnished consistent with age. Could use a bit more polish. It is recommended to be handled only by the edges. Includes a Pacific Silvercloth Anti-tarnish bag measuring 8" x 8 1/2".
