Vintage Betsy McCall Doll 24” American Character Ball Jointed Original Dress 60s
This vintage Betsy McCall doll is a true gem for collectors and doll enthusiasts alike. Standing at 24 inches tall, this original American Character ball jointed doll features curly hair in a fashionable poodle cut, brown eyes, and a light complexion. The doll comes with her original school dress. Her shoes, socks, bow, and underwear are vintage replacements.
This articulated, large Betsy is extremely hard to find. These were made for a very brief period in the late 50s and early 60s by American Character and Ideal. This doll is unmarked so I believe she is the American Character version. Her size was listed as 22 inches but she is actually almost 24 inches tall.
Betsy had a complete repaint of her face and arms because the vinyl had turned yellow with brown spots. The spots are still faintly visible but much less than they were. Her dress is fragile. Otherwise she’s in excellent vintage condition. Her
