Yeti SB165 Overview

Purpose-Built Design

The SB165 is Yeti’s long-travel, mixed-wheel bike made for aggressive trail riding, enduro laps, and gravity-fed terrain. It’s built to prioritize control, stability, and fun over pure race performance, excelling in rough, steep, or jump-heavy conditions.

Key Features

  • Travel: 165 mm rear suspension with a 170 mm fork

  • Wheel Setup: Mixed-wheel (29″ front, 27.5″ rear)

  • Frame Options: High-end Turq carbon or more affordable C-series carbon

  • Suspension System: Switch Infinity system optimized for coil shocks with progressive leverage ratio for plush small-bump sensitivity, strong mid-stroke support, and reliable bottom-out resistance

Geometry

  • Head Angle: Slack 63.5°

  • Seat Tube Angle: Steep ~76.9°

  • Reach (L): ~480 mm

  • Bottom Bracket Height: ~345 mm

  • Chainstay: ~437 mm

  • Wheelbase (L): ~1266 mm

Ride Performance

Climbing

Despite its aggressive geometry and travel, the SB165 climbs surprisingly well. The steep seat angle and efficient suspension kinematics give it decent pedaling support. However, it’s not ideal for tight, technical climbs due to its long and slack nature.

Descending

This is where the SB165 thrives. It’s extremely capable in steep, fast, and rough terrain. The suspension eats up big hits while staying supportive and responsive. The mixed-wheel setup adds agility in corners without sacrificing front-end stability, making it great for jumps, drops, and gnarly trails.

Build Options

Complete builds range from mid-tier to premium, all featuring coil rear shocks, aggressive geometry, and durable component selections. Options include SRAM or Shimano 12-speed drivetrains, powerful brakes, dropper posts, and trail-ready wheels and tires.

Who It’s For

The SB165 is ideal for riders looking to descend fast and hard, favoring fun and stability over race-day efficiency. It’s a great choice for bike park laps, shuttles, or riders who prioritize gravity over cross-country performance.
