I handcrafted this lovely one-of-kind chainmail bracelet in the helm weave, from 18 gauge, 100% Argentium Sterling Silver jump rings, which I make from Argentium wire. The necklace's length is 20" and it contains approximately 40 grams of Argentium Sterling Silver. It has a lobster claw clasp. Chainmail jewelry is made by connecting jump rings one at a time.The process embodies patience, precision, artistry, and most importantly, a love of taking precious metal and beautiful stones, and transforming them into beautiful works of art.A little history about chainmail:The use of chainmail was prominent throughout the Iron and Middle Ages. The earliest artifact of chainmail is a4th century BC Celtic chieftain's garment.What is Argentium Sterling Silver? Argentium contains 9.6% silver. Standard sterling silver contains 92.5%. That’s why it is sometimes called “925 silver”. All sterling silver contains an alloy, usually copper. British scientists discovered that replacing some of the copper with a germanium alloy, resulted in a dramatic decrease in the rate of oxidation.
