2001 Post- 9/11 NYPD New Era Fitted Cap Size 7 1/4. In the immediate aftermath when 9/11 happened, the New York Mets and New York Yankees wore these hats on the field. When they first returned to playing baseball, they wore any NYPD and FDNY hats they could find, as New Era wasn't able to create the hats quickly enough for the teams to wear. Shortly thereafter, once they were able to get this style of hats to the players, these were what the Yankees and Mets wore at the end of the 2001 season. This is an incredibly rare hat, I haven't seen another one of these, other than in pictures of the players on the field in 2001.
