This is an unusually shaped 1930s' tilt hat...it consists of a tall, slanted, conical shape crown with a slanted fold at the bottom. The brim is short. At one side of the crown there are velour covered stiffer bands that make up a bows protruding upwards and downwards. The band pointing down is finished with a large imitation pearl. There is also a black veil, which can cover the face or placed on top of the brim. An elastic band is attached to the inside to keep the hat in a tilted position.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no designer label, indicating that this was a custom creation. There is s size label: ADJ(ustable)This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
