This 1950s' navy velour toque is a very elegant piece of fashion history. The rounded crown is trimmed with two large "leaves" to one side. The leaves are covered in copper colored pearls and beads, and at the back there is a copper colored band which ends in bows at each side. There is also a thin navy veil, which can be work over the face, or placed on top of the hat. A toque is small cap or bonnet having a narrow brim or no brim at all. Toques were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe, especially France. The mode was revived in the 1930s.Label: CRAWFORD HOLLIDGE, BostonThis is an authentic piece of fashion history!
