This 1930s' Black straw tilt fedora consists of a short, flat crown surrounded by a medium, flat brim which is covered with folded see-through creme colored fabric. There is a very unique beige Bakelite ornament piercing the crown at one side, and the hat is finished with a black veil. There is a grosgrain strap at the back, held together by a flexible elastic circle. The strap keeps the hat in a tilted position.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
