STUNNING 1940's BLACK STRAW BERET WITH TALL FEATHERS & FABRIC FLOWERS

This amazing straw creation from the 1940s' is sure to be a showstopper. The beret-like shape consists a cap towards the back, which extends into an asymmetrical, rounded brim towards the front. At one side there is a beautiful bouquet of fabric flowers and stems, and an arrangement of tall black feathers, as photographed. There is also a black veil attached on top of the hat, and tied at the back.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular.
