This beautifully designedhat, labeled: "DACHETTES designed by Lilly Dache" is made of very soft, velour felt in a stunning claret red color. It is trimmed with complimentary, lighter colored grosgrain banding in a most creative way, ending in a bow at the back. Lilly Daché was a French-born American milliner and fashion merchandiser. She started her career in a small bonnet shop, advanced to being a sales lady at Macy's department store, and from there started her own hat business. She was at the peak of her business career in the 1930s and 1940s.In the 1950s, she launched two ready-to-wear hat lines – MMe. Lilly and DACHETTES'.The hat is in wonderful vintage condition, except that upon close inspection, a slight watermark can be seen on the top band (as pictured), though we had not noticed it before. It will not detract from wearing, and the slight mark is almost completely hidden, since the hat naturally has a crease on the top. This hat has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
