This is a beautiful 1930s' tilt hat made out of purple felt. The hat is a rounded cap that has "knots" made of the same felt around the front and sides. There are 2 beautiful off white/rust long feathers that pierce the top. They offer a creative touch to the hat, and look stunning. There are 2 felt strips attached to the hat and united by an elastic circle. This is to hold the hat in a tilted position.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. No Label, but imprinted inside the hat: MERRIMAC HAT CORP.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
