OUTSTANDING 1940s' TWO TONE BLUE STRAW WIDE BRIM HAT WITH GROSGRAIN TRIM & VEIL

This is really an outstanding 1940s' vintage straw hat: The straw is two-tone...it isa mixture blue and cream color...quite unique! The hat consists of a short, round crown surrounded by a wide brim which is edged in navy grosgrain. Surrounding the crown there is a stiff, tall band covered in light blue grosgrain. The grosgrain is trimmed by navy grosgrain one point towards the front side, as photographed. To finish this outstanding look, there is a navy veil, which can be worn over the face or placed on top of the brim. Please note that there is a small tear in the veil, as shown in photo # 11. Veils of this age are very fragile.The inside band has a date written in ballpoint ink, which must have been when the former owner put it up for sale: 03-10-8, which could be October 8, 2003. Frankly, we don't remember when and how we acquired this hat, since we have over 1300 hats still to list. Sorry.No designer or hat manufacturer label, meaning it was as a custom creation. There is a size label: 23This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Veils are fragile, given their age.
