This is a gorgeous 1940s' hat with a special feature: it has an open crown, which was popular in the era. The brim is wide, and the hat sits in a backwards slant, framing the face. Intricate grosgrain trim finishes this look: there is a braided band around the crown, plus there is a rosette at one side, which features acoordinated blue/white button at the center. A simply stunning look!The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
