CHARMING 1940S' BROWN STRAW FEDORA WITH LACQUERED FEATHERS + QUILLS

This is a unique brown straw fedora from the 1940s'. The crown is round and short, surrounded by a medium brim which is edged in dark brown faux leather. There is also a faux leather band around the crown and a long pale yellow lacquered feather plus green and dark brown feather quills.There is an underlap to hold the hat in a tilted position.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
