DELIGHTFUL1930S' SALMON COLORED STRAW HAT WITH MULTI COLORED GROSGRAIN BOWS

This delightful salmon colored straw hat is tightly woven, so the straw looks like some woven fabric. The round, short crown is surrounded by an upturned medium brim. Around the crown there is a burgundy grosgrain band ending in two streamers at the back. On top of the crown there are small multi colored bows to complete the look. There is an elastic band attached to the inside band to hold the hat in place.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.
