This is a tilt hat made a soft straw that is woven in a way that it shows through. The small crown is surrounded by a medium size brim which is upturned at the back. On top of the crown there are large "flowers" in navy and white straw. To hold the hat in position, there is an elastic band attached to the inside band.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
