MODISH 1940S' BLACK FELT HAT WITH LARGE RED SUEDE BOW + BLACK BEADS

This black felt hat has an unusual shape: There is a short and round crown, plus a cap which is surrounded by a medium, downturned brim in a square shape at the front, then tapers down towards the back. A black grosgrain band surrounds the crown, coming together at the back, creating 2 streamers. There are 3 black beads attached to the front of the brim, and a beautiful. large bow made of red suede at the top front. A stunning look.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. There is no designer label, but inside the hat there is ash imprint stating: MERRIMACK HAT CORP. - 94% WOOL - 6% CASEIN. There is also a size label: 22This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
