AMAZING 1940s' BLACK FELT FEDORA WITH GOLD COLORED FEATHER TRIM

This is an extraordinary 1940s' black felt fedora. The tall crown is folded so that it appears like a cone, which was the fashion of the era. The medium size brim is also turned up and folded towards the back, creating a pointy/triangular shape. There are two long and beautiful ostrich feathers in an ombre gold color. There is an elastic band attached to the inside to keep the hat in a tilted position.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
