This ia a beautiful 1930s' tilt hat made of black straw. It consists of one piece sculpted so the cap is shorter at the front, and taller at the back. There is a black straw band at the back to hold the hat in place. At the top there is a gorgeous black ostrich feather puff, pls a bouquet of blue fabric flowers.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. Label: No designer, but a size 22 label stating Under Fair StandardsThis is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
