This beautiful and striking hat from the 1940s' consists of a beret style cap made of very fine black felt. There is a black grosgrain bow at one side Originating from under the bow, there are 2 large orange ostrich feathers, plus shorter black feathers. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. LABEL: GLENOVER HATS - HENRY POLLAK INC.Henry Pollak started designing ladies’ hats in New York around 1910.
