This toque is a collector's dream, as it captures the glamorous fashions of the 1930s'. A toque is small cap or bonnet having a narrow brim or no brim at all. Toques were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe, especially France. The mode was revived in the 1930s.It consists of a fabric structure made in a form of a cone that is slanted towards the front, where there is a fabulous black feather "wheel". The sides are made of black fine straw. The hat is small, and meant to be worn on top of the head, slanted towards the front, held together by an elastic band.Label: Size 22 - Manufactured under fair labor standards.There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
