LOVELY 1950s' BROWN VELOUR JULIET CAP WITH FEATHERS AND FULL SPIDER VEIL

This Juliet cap is made of beautiful chocolate brown velour, with Guinea feather sprays at each side of the front. The structure of the hat is made to fit close to the head and is flexible so it can fit any size head. There is a bow at the center, from where a gorgeous spider web full veil is attached. The sides of the veil are attached to hair pins with felt heads. The veil can be worn over the face and attached as needed to the back of the hat with the hair pins. The veil can also be placed over the hat.A Juliet cap is chiefly worn with evening gowns or as bridal wear. The cap is named after the heroine of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, who is sometimes portrayed wearing one.Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
