This 1940s white felt tilt hat consists of a brimless somewhat oval shaped crown decorated with black velvet-like fabric flowers around the crown, plus two large white felt bows from which a black dotted veil sprays towards the front. The veil does not completely cover the face and can also be placed on top of the crown. There is a white felt covered "O" ring at the back to hold the hat in. a tilted position.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. Imprint on the felt: BERKSHIRE - Mohn Brothers Co. (Famous hat company from Pennsylvania.)This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
