In 2018, I made a series of ink paintings using black, blue, and red colored inks. This one was inspired by my mom's native prairie Purple Cone Flowers in her garden. I love fresh, Blooming flowers, but there's something beautiful to me about an elderly flower at the end of its life. The petals are curling and may be getting darker. The last step of my painting process is making the darks darker and highlights lighter, and when a flower is getting dark, it's like the same punch of contrast intensifying the visual. This painting will add a lovely, moody, artistic flair to any living room, bathroom, or office space. Gift to a friend or family member who loves art and / or gardening. This natural, floral art is like a plant suspended in time that won't die.This piece is mostly black ink with just a touch of red and blue seeping in.
