These beautiful pieces are made from Enamel and Copper using traditional craft techniques, hand crafted and manufactured in England.This particular pieceCommemorates the first performance of Shakespear's "Othello" on November 1st, 1604 at Whitehall Palace. Othello is a play written about the downfall of a Moorish military commander in the Venetian Army. Othello is manipulated, by his ensign Iago, into believing his wife, Desdemona, is unfaithful and he strangles her. After he realizes his mistake he takes his own life. The play explores themes of racial prejudice, manipulation and jealousy. This beautiful piece has Othello and Desdemona on the top lid. The inside lid has the representation of the Trinket Box in words "To Commemorate the first performance of Shakespeare's "Othello" on 1st November 1604 at Whitehall Palace. Inside the Trinket Box is a quote"..... then must you speak of one that loved not wisely but too well."William Shakespeare 1564 - 1616The outside edges of the Trinket Box depicts scenes from the play. The piece measures approx 1 7/8" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall. Made in Bilston, England. Excellent condition, no chips, scratches etc. Comes with original storage box.
