This is an actual working miniature camera that uses 110 size film which can still be purchased today either slightly expired or new stock from Lomography. It comes with two 110 film spools inside the camera that can be removed and reused.
These were called sub miniature Spy Cameras and were loaded and shot exactly as you would with a 35mm film camera except it looks ridiculously adorable when you do it now. This unit works great, the shutter fires, lid closes, spool knob turns easily.
These were massively popular in Japan during a time when resources were scarce and the country was rebuilding from the tragedies of war. People wanted to shoot film cheaply and these tiny cameras allowed just that, using only a fraction of the film you’d use in a 35mm camera.
It is a joy to use and a great conversation among everyone and anyone you pull it out in front of. Take tiny photos of your friends and family like a spy straight out of the 70’s.
