The green inside of this stone is a mesmerizing, deep, smooth green. Close to the surface, it is sun-faded, and has developed a rind. The mottled shades you see in the photos are very shallow. If this piece were worked too aggressively, you would be left with only the deep green.
The shine on this stone is the result of my spending about fifteen minutes, using a small rotary sander and four levels of grit, polishing a rough cut surface. I imagine that, with more time, and better materials, an amazing polish could be achieved.

This stone is roughly the size of a lemon.
