Beautiful hand carved wood tray. From around the 1930's or 40's or so I was told. I would call it a shield shape. The wood looks like oak but I'm not sure. It measures 24 1/4 L X 16 h x 7/8 thick. The center oval is not a perfect oval as you can see, which I think is very cool and you can tell it was hand carved. The eagle is holding an American flag and an olive branch? The sides have a flower and leaf motif. It has darker and lighter colors so some staining was probably used to get this affect. It has some damage. There is an old repair to a crack on the bottom section under the eagle. The last photo shows it from the back. There are also a couple dings and a larger chip on the bottom left (next to last photo). They all appear to be old damage. The larger chip has a dark patina. I never touched it up but you could with some stain. Not that noticeable in my opinion. It has a beautiful old patina. I did clean it with some wood cream. I ship same or next business day
