Antique Victorian gold genuine pyrope Bohemian garnets glass locket brooch pin

Excellent antique condition, not one garnet out of place. Original tube hinge is still present but has been reinforced/replaced with another tube hinge, this one also of antiquity. This large brooch is possibly 8 or 9 karat gold based on acid and Kee gold testing results. Garnets have been tested and are guaranteed genuine and are of the pyrope or “pigeon’s blood” variety. As if this piece wasn’t incredible enough, turning it over reveals a glass front oval locket which would have been used to store either a photo or a lock of hair. The glass is in great shape. Locket swings open smoothly and stays firmly closed. Total weight is 17.26 grams.
