The brand name Robes&Confections originates from the term used for ready-made garment manufacturers when ready-to-wear clothing first appeared in Europe. At that time, it referred to low-quality clothing worn by lower-class individuals, often considered as off-the-rack or ready-made clothing. However, modern everyday wear is rooted in these kinds of worker garments. The manufacturers of that era used all their ingenuity to gradually enhance the functionality and quality of clothing, which supports modern attire.

The collection of Robes&Confections pursues contemporary clothing firmly grounded in classic cutting and tailoring. Instead of focusing purely on design, it proposes a new interpretation of everyday wear by exploring questions such as, What can we do with a jacket that was originally intended for labor?

【Designer Profile of Robes&Confections】

The designer is Akira Tsuchiya, born in 1969. He graduated from Kanagawa University in 1993 and completed the Apparel Design course at Bunka Fashion College in 1996. After graduating, he worked as a pattern maker for Yohji Yamamoto. In 2003, he became independent and established MIKA Co., Ltd., launching the ladies' wear brand Robes&Confections.
