Passion and Reason05/250Painted By: Alann J. Boatright2016Original Oil on wood panel with real bridle and reins - 36" X 36" - (framed) - $62,000.artist notes:While this painting touches lightly on the business of off track betting and gambling, it is really just a reminder to always use a measure of restraint when participating in anything you are truly passionate about. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins." I like that little pearl of wisdom so much I decided to carve it into the paint of the horse's chest. Ben Franklin was 26 years old when he published the first edition of his Poor Richard’s Almanac.Additional symbolism incorporated into the painting is as follows: The Z on his ear hinge represents the 26th letter in the English alphabet. The bridle and reins on the original painting are real.
