This is truly a stunning sample of the millinery fashions of the 1940s. This fedora is made of furry felt, and the crown is conical shaped, and the brim is undulated and shaped into a point at the front. There is a tall yellow and black feather adorning the hat at the front. The crown is surrounded by a fabric band that ends in two streamers at the back.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
