Small Circus by Lee Bennett Hopkins - Pictures by Eric Carle - 1975

This paperback of 32 pages is from Macmillan Publishing Co. in 1975. It was written by Lee Bennett Hopkins and illustrated by Eric Carle. Eric Carle's artistic style will be easily recognized by those who have read his most famous book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This book is a Solo Book used to supplement the Level 5 books that were part of Series r: The New Macmillan Reading Program (at least it was new in 1975). There is faint age discoloration around the edges of the book's cover. The number 35 is written in the upper left corner of the cover, and the number 3 is written in the upper right corner. There is no other writing in the book. There is a small red spot on page 13 and another on the last page of the book (see pics). The pages are otherwise clean and bright with sharp corners. The print font is large for young readers. The easy reader doubles as a counting story - the circus has one ringmaster, two clowns etc. through ten band members.
