A 1950s figurine from Goebel. The figurine originated from the Schaubach-Kunst factory in Eastern Germany. When the factory was nationalized by the German Democratic Republic in 1953 the owner Heinz Schaubach moved to Mainz and gave many model figures to his friend Goebel. Goebel produced a series of female figures which because of their coloring became known as the Suntan Ladies. This figure is number 78 and measures 7.5 inches in height. It is marked on the base with the full bee mark and Schaubach - Kunst and an impressed Schau 78. Also marked W Germany. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some discoloration on her bodice. It comes from a smoke free environment. Gorgeous piece, beautiful ballerina, 7.5 tall.
