Very unusual and intriguing hanging plaque.
I believe it's made of chalkware or plaster that has a wood look to it with gold.
It measures approx 13 x 7 3/4 x 1 and weighs about 3 pounds.
The top portion has a skull w/wings & skeleton hands - it reads Gloria In Excelsis Deo (Glory in the highest to God).
Below that there are two religious figures with halos a donkey & an ox and the words IHS.
There are many very old headstones that look like this in New England where I live.
There is also a makers mark on the back which I couldn't make out, I have provided a closeup for viewing.
Please remember this is a mold and the wording is backward.
