Like most of her generation, my mother always had a stash of fabric just in case Every sewing project produced a small bundle of fabric remnants left over rolled up and sealed with a pin. Those women were raised in an era of thrift and nothing was ever too small to throw. I honor those savers by continuing to use even the smallest of remnants in my own work. This Beige batch is made up of Twill woven men's pants. I have been saving these for many years and now have collected a large batch to weave.

Hit or Miss is a very traditional technique method of recycling the smallest of leftover pieces of fabric. Because of this it is very labor intensive. I usually fillet 50 or 60 shirts to get a nice big batch of colors. Those are then cut into strips. I hate waste so some of the pieces are as short as four inches. This means I am able to do only one or two hit or miss batches per year. I love the festival of colors and the honoring of traditional techniques.
