New with Tags Victoria & Albert Museum of London, England The Lindner Toy Catalog "Soldiers and Drums" Scarf100% Pure Silk Made in Italy The scarf features a Rocking Horse at center with soldiers and drums surrounding it. A little history about the look behind this scarf from the German catalogue that dates back to 1840-1842: "The catalogue, produced in Germany circa 1840-1842 for the Sonneberg firm Lindner, contains 120 picture sheets, litho printed and hand coloured. Few such publications have survived. Research indicates this catalogue is the only example of its kind in Britain, and original catalogues such as this, with its enchanting designs, are now highly prized. In the early days of the German toy industry, sample toys were carried by tradesman, by the 19th century the scale of operations had increased so dramatically that catalogues soon became a necessity. The style of tradition of popular graphic design, with each toy being individually numbered.
