Krementz & Company of Newark, N.J. made fine costume jewelry as well as 14kt and 18kt gold jewelry and stayed in business for over 145 years. Their costume jewelry sold only in high-end department stores. They perfected a process using real 14kt and 18kt gold to fuse onto base metal. This necklace is a perfect example of this plating technique, using yellow and rose gold in one piece. The rose gold flowers are connected in the back by hinged bars which allow for a change of position of the flowers in relation to one another. The chain is a yellow gold-plated snake and attaches with a vintage ring clasp. The length of this necklace is 16½ inches. Not surprisingly this piece is in excellent condition.
