Courier Review Copy of “The Courts of Memory” by Frank Rooney (1954). 1st edition (of the National Book Award finalist for 1955 for fiction) sent to Syracuse Library Associates Courier (“The Courier”), a scholarly journal.
Apparently SIGNED by DELMORE SCHWARTZ, American poet and literary critic, praised by T. S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, and Ezra Pound. He was a professor at Harvard for a considerable time, but his final teaching post was at Syracuse University—The Courier’s home university.
Famously, Schwartz was Lou Reed’s professor at Syracuse in the early 1960s. Schwartz died from alcoholism in the notorious Chelsea Hotel by 1966.
