Henry IV of France, also known as Henry the Great, was King of Navarre (as Henry III) from 1572 and King of France from 1589 to 1610. He is remembered for ending the French Wars of Religion by issuing the Edict of Nantes in 1598, which granted religious toleration to Protestants. He also enacted important economic reforms, improved infrastructure, and promoted agriculture.
