The Richie Guards of West Virginia were a Confederate unit composed mostly or notably by citizens of the 50 counties of western Virginia which eventually became West Virginia.


The Washington Cadet Corps was formed in 1880 by Civil War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Christian A. Fleetwood. It was organized and commanded by Captain D. Graham and later expanded into the Sixth Battalion of D.C. National Guards
