Albrecht von Wallenstein (1583-1634) was a Bohemian soldier and statesman who served as the commanding general of the armies of the Holy Roman emperor Ferdinand II during the Thirty Years' War. He played a major role in leading the forces of the Holy Roman Empire during the war. However, through a series of plots to undermine the emperor and enhance his own power, he was eventually assassinated.
