This listing is for a beautiful white, red and brown drip glaze or fat lava art pottery vase. I believe this vintage piece of midcentury style pottery was handcrafted by the West German company, Scheurich Keramik, probably in the 1960's or early 1970’s. It is made of earthenware clay and hand decorated in an abstract zigzag pattern with heavy glazing that resembles frozen flows of lava in radioactive hues ranging from fiery reds to oranges to cobalt blues.
The short neck, wide mouth vase measures 4-1/2 inches in diameter at its widest point and stands 8-3/4 inches tall. It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age with no crazing, chips, cracks, or repairs. This is a rare and beautiful piece of midcentury German art pottery.
The Scheurich company became one of the largest manufacturers of ceramics in Germany in 1950s -1980s.
