This vintage set of Candles in the Rain Creations in Leather includes four wall art/coasters made from high-quality leather with a multi-color design. Val and Bill Norrington are British leather workers who started their first studio in 1972. In the 1980's, Val & Bill moved to Santa Barbara in the U.S., where they continued experimenting with an ancient and lost process called “cuir bouilli” (“boiled leather”) for molding leather. Note, there are several people selling these items that offer no actual info about who Val & Bill really were, which I believe is a huge disservice to buyers of these leather art pieces.
They first started making wall hangings in the 1990's at their Santa Barbara studio. However, 2017 is the last date I found on their website. These creations are some of their earliest pieces, judging by the wear on the labels. I posted a photo of a newer label to show what they looked like. They measure approx. 8-10 long and 6-10 wide.
