Vintage Hand-Embroidered Folk Art. Vivid yellow heavy textile cloth with black and white stripes. Piece has a circular center featuring stylized design of 2 Quetzal birds. Surrounding accents feature flowers & geometric shapes in a rainbow of colors. Kuna women of the San Blas Islands Panama are famous for their embroidery work. They use traditional techniques and vivid colors to showcase local life, plants and animals. These women proudly keep their cultural heritage alive. Measures about: 35 wide x 45 long. Weights about 14 ounces.
I purchased this panel from a Kuna woman in Panama 1990's. I am the only owner. This panel has only been used as a wall hanging. The embroidery is in like new condition. The cloth itself is in like new condition with no wear, holes or tears. However, the cloth does have some fading due to sunlight. Because of the sun fading, I am rating condition as Good
