In a surprise move and announced on April 6th of 2020: The US Mint is producing circulating quarters from the West Point Mint as they did in 2019. The 2020-W Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Quarter can only be found in circulation and they are quite rare with a maximum of 2 million to be produced. These coins will bear the W mint mark. The Mint did this with the purpose of generating excitement for coin collecting by introducing rare coins into circulation. These W quarters were mixed in with bags of coins minted from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint and will be found by lucky collectors who are keeping a close eye on their pocket change!
