【Product Description】

This is the Yoichi Y-5 BK (Black) from Kaneko Optical's craftsman series.
This is an early model of Yoichi, which is no longer sold. Currently, it can only be purchased on flea market sites.
It was remade as Y-17 in recent years, but that has also been discontinued.
There is a similar model called Y-20, but the silhouette of Y-5 is more beautiful, with a lower frame height.
(Y-20 is too large unless you have a large face)
Although the frame height is low, it is also suitable for progressive lenses. (In fact, I also use it for progressive lenses)
I like the sharp edges of the frame and own four of them, but I am selling one this time.
After purchasing it at the Kaneko Optical Aoyama Main Store, I used it for about a year, but I used it at the same time as other glasses, so the frequency of use was low.
After use, I asked a craftsman at Kaneko Optical (Aoyama Main Store) to polish the frame, and it has been stored at home for a long time.
When polishing, I ordered that the markings on the left temple: Handmade and the right temple: Yoichi could be removed, and they were perfectly removed. (Although they are not visible in the photos, the engraving marks remain) The lenses are clear lenses with prescription, so please have them remade to fit your eyes at an optician.

Yoichi Sasaki, who has over 40 years of experience as a craftsman, has achieved the highest level of filing and polishing techniques, unmatched in the industry.
His techniques create a finish that leaves the corners while simultaneously showing them as lines, giving a delicate impression despite its ruggedness. This is a masterpiece that continues to pursue craftsmanship. The sharp edges and mirror-like luster, which are the greatest features of Yoichi, are created by shortening the barrel polishing process and using various tools to polish by hand. This technique is called the industry's highest standard, and it emits a genuine shine that can only be achieved by craftsmen who know the skills and materials inside and out.
