Vintage / Shenango China Tureen Made in Pennsylvania.Approximate measurements:Top of Bowl Length10.5”-Interior Bowl Width at bottom 2.75” flares up to top of bowl under lip5”-Interior lip height1”-Exterior Height from base to top of bowl6”-Domed lid fits perfectly on top. Decorative handles on domed lid and both sides of bowl with raised designs near each handle. No chips, cracks or ladle. Wear on underside of base, to be expected.While there isn't an official Shenango Indian tribe, the name comes from a displaced Seneca tribe that settled in the Shenango Valley in Pennsylvania along the Shenango River in the 1700s. In about 1912, the company developed a logo that includes a cross-legged breechcloth-covered Indian viewed as if you were standing to his right side and behind him decorating a piece of Native American pottery. This logo appeared in various forms through 1979. Perfect condition. My Grandmother was the original owner. Gently used, if ever used. Just for fun.
