This is a striking and rare antique African tribal spear featuring a hand-forged iron spearhead with multiple barbed flares and a deeply patinated hardwood shaft. Likely originating from Central Africa (possibly the Congo region), this spear exhibits traditional craftsmanship and may have served as a ceremonial or prestige weapon.
The barbed, leaf-like spearhead is securely socketed into the shaft, which tapers down to a solid iron butt spike. The weapon was discovered wrapped in newspaper from 1968, suggesting long-term storage or export during the early-to-mid 20th century. The item has not been cleaned or altered, preserving its original patina and character.

Wrapped in vintage newspaper 1968 (included as found)
Estimated origin: Central Africa (Congo, Kuba, or Ngbaka region)
