Circa 1940's, I purchased this one in the early 1970's and have a whole collection of Ainu bears made in Japan by the original Japanese Ainu people in Hokkaido off the coast of Japan. A copy of National Geographic about these people states the ainu bears have become rare because the elders of the villages hand carved them out of solid wood and the younger generation didn't carry on the tradition. This one is in near perfect shape - no cracks, no scratches and generally no wear and tear. It measures 11 L x 6.5 x 6 . Comes with its own matching solid wood base measuring 12 x 6.5 x1.5 . Please check the photos and do not hesitate to ask questions. These have been kept in a closed china cabinet. You will not be disappointed!
